Gaming News

Keep up to date with the gaming news that relates to your particular game, whether it’s poker or one of the casino games. Staying informed about the various changes in online gambling legislation can help you avoid costly losses, like those suffered by most of the players at Tilt when it closed abruptly.

Keeping an eye on the headlines might have given some forewarning that could have saved many players their money. But to be fair, in the case of FT, the shut down was so sudden that there really was no warning at all.

The smart players, you might say, got their money out when UIGEA was passed. But then they didn’t get to play profitably on the FT tables for the last 5 years, so I can’t say how smart that move really was.

Aside from the spectacular headlines that come up from time to time, smart players should still watch what is happening in their part of the online gambling world. You never know when you will come across some bit of information that you can use to your advantage.

It may come in the form of a new poker bonus, or type of game, or even a new poker room that you can do better at. Or it may come in the form of new legislation that suddenly makes it against the law to play in your particular jurisdiction.

Whatever it may be it can pay to stay informed.

It shouldn’t be a chore to read the occasiona industry related blog or site anyway, as presumably you already love the game, so reading about it should hold a certain level of interest for you too. If you do find that you have no interest in what law got passed hwere, or what famous player won what famous tourney, then you are probably a more casual player. If that is the case then you probably won’t have a massive bankroll on the line should anything disasterous occur in the gaming world. The two sets there are not always exclusive though, and you may be a casual player with no interest in the industry beyond the felt, but still have a large amount of money in your account. If that is the case you really should read the headlines at least, or consider changing to a safer form of entertainment.

In the end though it is your money and your decision. I would like to be able to clue you in to some of the possible dangers that you can face in this online world, but you are most likely not reading this in the first place, so I will save that for another day. Or never.
